NIDAHAS TROPHY – BAN 139/8 (20.0 Ovs)IND 140/4 (18.4 Ovs) India won by 6 wkts “The wicket was good, I thought it was a 170-180 wicket. Our batsmen failed, I don’t have any doubts about the surface. We got chances but we couldn’t put them to use. We need to think ahead of our opponents, but as of today, I think we as batsmen failed that on a good wicket like this, we floundered,” the Bangladesh captain had said after the loss.
“I think we were 25-30 runs short yesterday. It would have been a different story. It is a good wicket, so chasing 170-180 isn’t that hard,” Taskin said ahead of a must-win clash against hosts Sri Lanka. “Batting and bowling hasn’t been combining well for us, in recent times. We have to make this a consistent affair.”
Rohit – captain, India: “I think it was a great performance, something that was expected from us. Right from the start to the end, it was clinical and a complete team effort. We looked into what went wrong in the game against Sri Lanka and we thought hitting the length was the option for us. We wanted their batsmen to take on the longer boundaries. Bowlers executed plans very well. We kept it simple and got the basics right, which was missing in the first game. Catching is something where there’s always room for improvement. We want to get better as a fielding side. We are much better than that.”
