Williamson, New Zealand captain: It was great to put two strong performances on the board. Like Ross mentioned, they put us under pressure throughout. We know how talented this Windies side is. Good Test wicket. Was always a little bit of movement. If you hit the wicket hard, you got something out of it. Fortunate to be on the right side of the results for both games. Not a huge amount of Test cricket this year, but in terms of executing plans, I thought we did it well. Special moment for Ross, world class player. Considerable knock for a number of reasons.
Brathwaite, West Indies captain: Well played to New Zealand. We didn’t bat well in the first innings, as well in the first Test. That’s where we need to improve. Bowlers did a magnificent job. Obviously it was tough on their bodies. Enjoyed captaincy. Our captain will be back. Looking forward to him being back, but enjoyed the experience. Tough loss. Need to be more decisive in general.
Taylor: The main focus is on getting the win which is great. The bowlers, just like the first innings, bowled outstandingly well. Nice to get to no. 17. Main thing is when you get a hundred and the team wins. Felt good in Wellington. Surprising how quickly things can change. Very satisfying. We came here wanting to series. WI put us under pressure at different times but we were able to ride that and get the wins. Lot of big players coming in from the Windies for the one-day series. Should be good.
The match was set up for the hosts in the first innings, where they took a lead of over 150. Ross Taylor then batted the Windies out of it with a ton yesterday. Here he is, speaking to Simon Doull as the Man of the Match..
