Surrey vs Middlesex, Kennington Oval in London
Surrey opted to bat first and had a strong opening partnership between Jason Roy and Aaron Finch, who added 68 runs in seven overs. However, they couldn’t press home the advantage with both the openers falling in the space of three deliveries. The two stalwarts, Pietersen and Kumar Sangakkara couldn’t do much as Surrey found themselves in a mid-innings crisis. An injury forced Pietersen to operate with a runner – Jason Roy – but that didn’t help much either. Dominic Sibley and Ollie Pope got together in a 47-run stand to resurrect the innings and take them past the 150-run mark.
Scores: Surrey 156/7 in 20 overs (Aaron Finch 40, Ollie Pope 31; Nathan Sowter 2-19) beat Middlesex 141/7 in 20 overs (James Franklin 38, Eoin Morgan 32; Sam Curran 3-28) by 15 runs.
