INDW 265/7 (50.0 Ovs)
NZW 79-all out (25.3 Ovs)
Suzie Bates: We weren’t good enough today. India batted outstandingly well on the back of Mithali’s 100. We were nowhere good as we needed to be. We played some good games, but we really needed to stand up today. But unfortunately, we couldn’t. We started really well with the ball, but we haven’t been able to break the partnerships. We were expected to make the semi finals, but everyone is going to be very disappointed with the result. It was a really good batting track. We would have liked to keep them under 250. The way they finished was really great.
Mithali Raj, Player of the Match: I’m extremely happy because for a couple of us, this is going to be the last World Cup. So, our first aim was to qualify for the semis. I have always been happy to score runs for the country. I’ve always dreamed getting more and more runs because the hunger never dies. I think there were two important and crucial partnerships. One with Harmanpreet and the other with Veda. Her contribution was really very crucial. When you’re chasing 250 plus there is always pressure. I think the bowlers did a great job. If you’re aiming to be in the top 4 teams in the world, it is very important that you come back strong after a couple of defeats. It was important for the girls to come back strong, all firing.
