It was also India’s biggest win in terms of runs in a Test outside India. The previous biggest win was by 279 runs against England in Leeds in 1986.

14 Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane became the 14th Indian pair to put together 2000-plus partnership runs in Tests. Their average of 65.61 per dismissal is the second best among the 14 pairs, only behind 68.40 between Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara.
