Van Niekerk: We thought we were 30 short, but we went out there believing and I’m really proud of the way they went about it. You always have to believe that you can win. I said to them that it’s very close, and anything can happen. It was a great game of cricket and I hope the fans enjoyed it. We just hope we make everyone proud. We needed some magic, but we didn’t get it today. We had a great run.

Knight: It was tight watching on the balcony. Absolutely delighted to get over the line, and put on a show for the crowd. These close games are the best to win and the worst to lose. Credit to South Africa too. What a game of cricket. It’s the greatest prize being at the final at Lord’s. It was hard work on that slow wicket. Yes, I was definitely nervous. But I trusted the girls there.
A teary-eyed Sarah Taylor, Player of the Match: It’s been a long journey for all of us. That was too tense in the end. It wasn’t the most enjoyable experience, but we know we got depth in our batting. Fran and Jenny batted really well under pressure, but yeah let’s not do that again. All in all, we did well. They played really well and to lose like that is heart-breaking. We have been there and we know what it feels like. I wish them well and hope they do well in the future. It’s absolutely fantastic, I mean the crowd here is fantastic, just want to say thank you as a team. To get through to the final is amazing, and we couldn’t be prouder of each other. We came into this tournament with no expectations and I’m proud of the way we played so far.
