ENG 46/4 (19.0 Ovs) CRR: 2.42
Day 1: Stumps – England trail by 77 runs
Rob Johnston, perhaps drooling at the possibility of free bagels at Lord’s, has this on the weather and pitch: “It is an overcast morning here at Lord’s and the pitch has a green tinge, so it could be a good toss to lose for England. Anderson and Broad should make the ball move first thing this morning you’d think.”
On team changes: Sane from Windies to not change a winning combination, although, at Headingley, Bishoo was nearly as much employed by Holder as the stick-stirrer at my office’s coffee machine. That was one change that was expected but looks like a good call to stick to the team that has us look at Windies in a completely different light, yet again. For England, they rued the absence of the third genuine seamer – as hard as Woakes tried – and slot in TRJ hence, the bowler in form who was driven all over by England’s intention to give Woakes a go after the injury layover. Come today, Ashes down under are a distant thought; a home series is what’s on the line.
