Moeen Ali admits England’s festering culture might need a makeover after the tourists were embroiled in another off-field alcohol-related scandal.
Moeen, who does not drink alcohol, expressed his disappointment over England’s off-field woes. “Maybe the culture needs to change slightly,” he told reporters in Perth on Sunday (December 10).
“Times have changed. Players can’t do things that they would have done in the past,” he added. “I still believe you can enjoy yourself without drinking. I understand why people drink, but there’s responsibility that comes with that.”
Moeen believed the 27-year-old performed better than his match figures of 2 for 62 conveyed. “I was impressed with how he bowled,” he said. “I don’t know if he’s close to being called into the Test squad, but I do think he’s ready to play. He feels confident in his own game and that he’s back to his best.
