CSA retain support staff for Bangladesh series

Cricket South Africa announced in a brief statement on Wednesday (September 13) that the Proteas’ coaching, management and support staff who worked with Domingo will be retained for the incoming tour by Bangladesh, which gets underway with the first Test in Potchefstroom on September 28.

“This has been done in consultation with our new head coach, Ottis Gibson,” CSA president Chris Nenzani said. “The CSA Board, in consultation with the chief executive and the head coach, will review the issue of the appointment of the coaching, management and support staff after the conclusion of the Bangladesh series.”

Lions coach Geoffrey Toyana and Warriors coach Malibongwe Maketa, who were both shortlisted for the Proteas job before a panel decided to appoint Gibson, would be contenders for the assistant role if the West Indian opted to employ a local coach.Via
