Gujarat Lions are left with only four overseas players – Dwayne Smith, James Faulkner, Aaron Finch and Chirag Suri – in the squad after the injury to McCullum. They have already lost Dwayne Bravo and Andrew Tye to injuries while Jason Roy left the squad to play for England against Ireland.

McCullum scored 319 runs in 11 games for Gujarat Lions this season, at a strike-rate of 147.
