Ajit Agarkar, the former India pacer, was appointed as the chairman of Mumbai Cricket Association’s selection committee on Friday (May 26). Agarkar will head the selection committee for senior and Under-23 set-ups. Nilesh Kulkarni, Jatin Paranjape and Sunil More are the other members of the selection panel.
The 39-year-old served India with distinction, bagging 288 scalps in One-Day Internationals and 58 wickets in Test cricket. Agarkar was also a useful batsman lower down the order, evidenced by the hundred he notched up in the first Test of the four-match series against England at Lord’s in 2002.
